Dogwood in Bloom

The dogwood trees are in bloom - both the pink and the white. Like everything else this year, they are early. I usually start watching for dogwood flowers at the end of April. This year everything was early and often out of sinc - crocus before snowdrops and most hellebores were even later.

Now the tulips are just beginning to fade and with dogwood trees in bloom, summer is just around the corner.

  1. Here in Knoxville, the dogwoods were 'late' blooming, i.e. as week after Easter. However, Easter was really early this year, wasn't it, so maybe the dogwoods got it right, after all. In any case, they are at their best right now! I love your tulip pictures, particularly the black tulips against the blue forget-me-knots. Don't they look wonderful! Amazing to think that when black tulips came out first of all in Holland in the 17th century, I think it was, they cost the equivalent of a house to buy.

  2. Aren't Dogwoods just the most beautiful things ever? Ohmygoodness yes!

That last photograph looks like a Van Gogh painting. :-)
